At the local level,
Ritzville is incorporated as a second class city under the laws
of the State of Washington. It is
governed by an elected mayor and a seven-member city council.
It is the
Adams County seat which is governed by a three-person board of
commissioners.
At the federal
level, Washington, like all states, has two U.S. Senators.
Ritzville is included in the U.S. House of Representative's 5th
Congressional District.
Washington, like
almost all states, has a bicameral legislature with nine elected
officials.
Public Safety
Ritzville property is
protected by a city and county volunteer fire department.
Ritzville is protected by a
local four-person police force.
As the county seat, the Adams County Sheriff's Department and
jail is located here as well as a Washington State Patrol
Detachment.
