Retail sales tax in Ritzville is the
lowest in the state of Washington
(7.6%)
Retail sales in Ritzville are
growing. In 2005, it exceeded $255,000, the
most since 1997.
Hotel/Motel tax has also grown by
more than 50% since 2002 ($41,852
in 2002 to the highest ever at
$64,634 in 2005)
Increases in property tax on
existing property are limited to 1%.
There are special taxing districts
which have been formed by vote of the
people – Library, Parks and
Recreation, and Hospital Districts. One special levy was voted for
a limited time to purchase a new fire truck for the city.
When comparing with locations in other
states, remember that there is
no state individual income tax.
There is a state Business and
Occupation Tax, but the City of Ritzville
does not levy a City
Business and Occupation Tax.
There is no
transit tax on retail sales.
